Sara Jane: Diagnosed with Stage IV RET+ NSCLC in 2010
Diagnosed with Stage IV NSCLC in Oct 2010, I was certain I would not live to see my oldest graduate from sixth grade. However, 14 years and many treatment modalities later, I’ve been here to see both our girls graduate from college and begin lives of their own. I've had it all - chemo, radiation, immunotherapy, surgery - and, since 2017, a targeted therapy then-known (while still in clinical trials) as selpercatinib (now Retevmo) which has done a great job keeping my cancer at bay. I've seen progress in the lung cancer field that I never could have imagined in 2010. I'm thankful for each day. Research has saved my life and I could not be more grateful.
